Setup the PLC

The Siemens Simatic Manager software is used to set up the S7300 PLC. The following figures and explana- tions are extracted from this software.

Install the GSD file

The first step is to install the GSD file so Simatic is able to map data blocks to our device. Contact Graco Techni- cal Assistance for Profibus GSD files.

Start Simatic Manager and open or create a new PLC project. Select the Simatic 300 Station in the navigation pane as shown in FIG. 49.

Double-click Hardware in the right hand window. This will start the HWConfig where most of the work is done. The HWConfig shows the current PLC hardware config- uration. Close this configuration (NOT HWConfig) and choose Options>Install GSD File… FIG. 50.
