CHAPTER 8: ENTERING PROGRAMMING MODE

8.2Password Entry

The EPM 5300P and 5200P are password protected. To enter the Programming Mode, key in the following password: 555.

The password entry may seem awkward at first. It is designed to be difficult to use initially. This secures unauthorized tampering. After you become familiar with password entry, you will find it quick and easy to accomplish.

The meter will not store any programming unless properly exited (see Chapter 14 to Exit).

Entering Programming Mode:

Step 1:

a. Press and hold PHASE/NEXT.

b. While holding PHASE/NEXT, press AMPS until a number appears in middle display. Then release both buttons.

If 3 is not already displayed:

c. Press AMPS until 3 appears.

d. Press PHASE/NEXT to multiply the 3 to 333.

333 flashes momentarily in middle display.

Digits begin scrolling in upper display.

The password is 555.

a. Press PHASE/NEXT each time the digit 5 appears.

Selected digits appear in middle display.

Display blanks and PPP flashes in upper display, confirming a correctly entered password.

PPPis replaced by 0. and the meter is now in Programming Mode, GROUP 0.

You are now in the Programming Mode. CONGRATULATIONS!

AUTO SCROLLING will automatically show all of the readings on the face of the meter except LIMITS. To enter Auto Scrolling mode, follow the above steps except use the numbers 666 as the password. To exit Auto Scrolling mode, use the same procedure as described above.
