Control-panel messages

The following table describes some of the common control-panel messages.

CLOSE ALL COVERS

The printer cannot print because one or more of the

 

covers is open.

 

 

 

Ensure all covers are properly closed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ENSURE REAR ACCESS PANEL IS PROPERLY

The rear access panel is not closed properly.

CLOSED

Push it in firmly until it locks into place.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

[TRAY X OR ACCESSORY] NOT AVAILABLE...

The tray or auto-duplex unit is not available.

 

To use media from another tray or print without

 

duplexing, press

 

 

 

(Resume button). To cancel the

 

 

 

 

 

print job, press

 

 

(Cancel button).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CARRIAGE STALL...

Something is preventing the carriage from moving.

 

Open the top cover, clear the obstruction, and then

 

press

 

(Resume button) to continue printing.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

LOAD [SIZE] MEDIA IN TRAY [X]. PRESS

The specified tray is either empty or contains media

RESUME TO CONTINUE.

PAPER JAM...

Media is jammed in the printer.

 

See Clearing jams.

 

 

PRINTED PAGE IS DRYING. PRESS RESUME TO CONTINUE.

The printer is waiting for the printed page to dry before continuing to print. You can remove the page from the output tray (handle it carefully to avoid smearing

the ink), and press (Resume button) to start printing the next page.

REMOVE PRINTED PAGES FROM OUTPUT TRAY. PRESS RESUME TO CONTINUE

The output tray is full.

Remove the printed pages and

press (Resume button) to continue printing.

REPLACE INCOMPATIBLE OR FAULTY [COLOR]

The printhead or ink cartridge is either incompatible or

PRINTHEAD

faulty.

 

 

REPLACE INCOMPATIBLE OR FAULTY [COLOR]

Replace with a HP printhead or ink cartridge to

INK CARTRIDGE

continue printing.

 

 

 

INSTALL [COLOR] PRINTHEAD

The printhead or ink cartridge is either missing or not

INSTALL [COLOR] INK CARTRIDGE

installed correctly.

 

Ensure the printhead or ink cartridge is in its correct

 

color-coded slot, and press down firmly to ensure

 

proper contact.

 

 

 

INK LOW IN [COLOR] CARTRIDGE

The ink cartridge is running low on ink and will need to

 

be replaced soon.

 

Press

 

(Resume button) to clear this message.

 

 

 

 

 

 

REPLACE EMPTY [COLOR] INK CARTRIDGE

The ink cartridge is either empty or has expired.

REPLACE EXPIRED [COLOR] INK CARTRIDGE

Replace with a HP ink cartridge to continue printing.
