SERVICE ID

Use this item to show the date that the product was first used

on the control panel. This eliminates the need for users to keep

paper receipts for proof of warranty.

Restore the service ID

If you replace the formatter, the date is lost. Use this menu item

to reset the date to the original date that the product was first

used. The date format is YYDDD. Use the following formula to

calculate the dates. The date 17-October-2002 is used as an

example.

1.

To calculate YY, subtract 1990 from the calendar year.

For instance, if the product was first used in 2002,

calculate YY as follows: 2002 - 1990 = 12. YY = 12.

2.

Subtract 1 from 10 (October is the tenth month of the

year): 10 - 1 = 9.

Multiply 9 by 30: 9 x 30 = 270 or add 17 to 270: 270

+ 17 = 287. Thus, DDD = 287.

Convert the service ID to an actual date

You can use the product Service ID number to determine

whether the product is still under warranty. Use the following

formula to convert the Service ID into the installation date as

follows:

1.

Add 1990 to YY to get the actual year that the product

was installed.

2.

Divide DDD by 30. If there is a remainder, add 1 to the

result. This is the month.

3.

The remainder from the calculation in step 2 is the date.

Using the Service ID 12287 as an example, the date

conversion is as follows:

1.

12 + 1990 = 2002, so the year is 2002.

2.

287 divided by 30 = 9 with a remainder of 17. Since there

is a remainder, add 1 to 9 to get 10, which represents

October.

3.

The remainder in step 2 is 17, so that is the date.

4.

The complete date is 17-October-2002.

NOTE: A six-day grace period is built into the date system.

COLD RESET PAPER

When you perform a cold reset, the paper size that is stored in

NVRAM is reset to the default factory setting. If you replace a

formatter board in a country/region that uses A4 as the

standard paper size, use this menu to reset the default paper

size to A4. LETTER and A4 are the only available values.

NEW REGISTRATION ROLLER

Use after installing a new registration roller.

MEDIA SENSOR VALUE

Use this menu item to calibrate the media sensor by selecting

a threshold value from a specified range. This calibration is

most likely to occur when a media sensor has been replaced,

but might also occur if the current sensor needs to be optimized. The recommended media sensor threshold value for each sensor is included in the replacement kit for the part.
