2.3.Using the Mode Select Menu

This s ction explains how to use the MODE key on the control anel. The MODE key allows you to set or change the printer environment such s the number of copies to make, emulation, page o ientation, code set, etc. your specific needs.

The following items can be selected by using the MODE , + and - , and ENTER keys. Also, the diagram on the last page in this manual gives quick reference to the full options and the se- quence of sel ction.

Mode Select Menu

		Selects the interface on wh ch the control panel	Parallel
		settings are ffective. This setting affects only the
		currently active interface.
		Parallel setting has sub item in which one of
		three ata transmission modes can be lected —
		Auto , Normal, or Highspeed	Auto
		Serial s tting has five sub items, and sets the
		foll wing RS-232C/RS-422A parameters:
		Baud rate	9600
		Data bits	8
		Stop bits	1
		Parity	None
Numberfcopies		Prot col	DTR(pos.)&XON
Emulation		Sets the number of copies to be printed.	001
Font		Changes the mulation mode on the current	HP LJ 4Plus
		interface>Codeset. The Kkey allows access to sub item
		.
Pageorientation		Selects the bitmap or scalable font for the current	Bitmap
		interface. Sub items allow selection of typefaces
		and scaling of the scalable font.
Opt.ROM		The + and - keys toggle between portrait and	Portrait
		landscape page orientations.
MEMORYCARD	>	Reads information from the option ROM installed	—
		in the printer’s main board.
		Reads or writes data from or to an memory card	—
		in the printer’s memory card slot. Also, this menu
		allows deletion of data from an memory card;
		and formatting the memory card.
