5: Changing the UBox's Settings

The following information displays at the top:

USB Product

Name programmed into the USB device by the

Name

manufacturer.

 

 

Vendor ID (VID)

Vendor ID programmed into the USB device by the

 

manufacturer.

Product ID (PID)

Product ID programmed into the USB device by the

 

manufacturer.

USB Serial

Serial number, if any, programmed into the USB device by

Number:

the manufacturer.

 

 

4.Update the following settings as desired:

Alternate Name A name for the USB device other than the name

programmed into it by the manufacturer.

 

The alternate name applies to a specific UBox.

 

‹ If you move a USB device to another UBox, reset the

 

alternate name on the new UBox.

 

‹ If your USB Device does not have a serial number,

 

and you move the USB device to a different port, re-

 

enter the alternate name.

 

 

Requires

Select the checkbox to share the specified USB device

Password To

only with users who have the password to that USB device.

Connect

When you first attempt to connect to a password-protected

 

USB device, you are prompted to enter a password. You

 

can then opt to store passwords locally in the Local

 

Settings tab so that you do not need to reenter the

 

password every time you want to use that USB device.

Because passwords apply to a specific UBox.

‹If you move a USB device to another UBox, reset that USB device's password on the new UBox.

‹If your USB Device does not have a serial number, and you move the USB device to a different port, select the Requires Password to Connect checkbox
