Automatic Self-Test

When you apply power to the modem, it automatically runs a self-test that checks for and identifies faults in the modem’s circuits. After displaying the message SELF- TEST, the front modem displays one of the messages shown in Table 2-1.

326X Initial

The modem is set to operate using factory default values.

 

 

326X Ready

No faults were encountered during the self-test. The modem is ready

 

for operation.

 

 

[Error message]

A system fault was detected during the self-test.

Handling Error Messages

If the modem fails the self-test and displays an error message, do the following:

1)Record the message to assist in troubleshooting the modem.

2)Turn the modem off and then on again, and observe the front panel display. If the modem displays 326X READY, the earlier error message was probably caused by a temporary power line problem. Some line problems do not affect modem operation. If the modem continues to display an error message, contact Motorola Customer Support or an authorized Motorola distributor.
