R3. parameter(s) Varies per option. See the following option descriptions.

O p t i o n 1 ( F i x e d D a t a )

Fixed data is information (a company name or store number) you want to print on all labels. You can define fixed characters for an entire field or for part of a field.

Syntax

R,1,"fixed char" p

R1. R

Option Header.

R2. 1

Option 1.

R3. fixed char

Characters to insert. Enclose in quotation marks. If you are

defining fixed characters for part of a field, place underscores

(_) in non-fixed positions. Any spaces in the phrase are fixed

characters. Range: 0 - 2710 (or 0 - 100 for 9403)

NOTE: Underscore characters are stripped out and the data

is compressed if no data is supplied by the batch and

the field length is variable.

Example

R,1,"_ _ _%$_ _ _ _ _" p

Uses fixed characters (%$) in positions four and five. The other positions are variable.

Example

R,1,"MONARCH" p

"MONARCH" appears as a fixed field in this example.

To fill in the non-fixed portion of the field, see "Defining Batch Data Fields" in Chapter 6. As an alternative, you can apply Option 4 to copy data into the non-fixed character positions.
