Chapter 3

S1/POS The S1 sleep mode is a low power state. In this state, no system context (CPU or chipset) is lost and hard- ware maintains all system context.

S3/STR The S3 sleep mode is a power-down state in which power is supplied only to essential components such as main memory and wake-capable devices and all system context is saved to main memory. The informa- tion stored in memory will be used to restore the PC to the previous state when an “wake up” event occurs.

PowerManagement/APM

This item is used to select the degree (or type) of power saving and is related to the mode: Suspend Time Out. There are three options for power management:

Min Saving Minimum Power Management. Suspend Time Out = 1 Hour.

Max Saving Maximum Power Management. Suspend Time Out = 1 Min.

User Define Allows end users to configure each mode separately.

MODEMUseIRQ

Name the interrupt request (IRQ) line assigned to the modem (if any) on your system. Activity of the selected IRQ always awakens the system. Settings: 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11 and NA.

Suspend Time Out

If system activity is not detected for the length of time specified in this field, all devices except CPU will be shut off. Settings are Disabled, 1 Min, 2 Min, 4 Min, 8 Min, 12 Min, 20 Min, 30 Min, 40 Min and 1 Hour.

Power Button Function

This feature allows users to configure the power button function. Settings are:

Power Off

The power button functions as a normal power-on/-
