System Status and Error Messages
When an error occurs, the printer displays an appropr iate message
on the control panel LCD. Some errors are operator-correctabl e,
some require field service, and others require reprinting.

Operator-correctable

errors include paper jams, missing
consumables, and power paper stacker problems. After correc ting
the error condition, press CLEAR to remove the message from th e
display and place the printer offline. If any data resides in the print
buffer, it will then be printed. Press ONLINE to place the prin ter
online.
The “stacker” errors can usually be cleared by pressing CLEAR . In
some cases, you may need to lower and then raise the stacker tray,
then press CLEAR to correct the error.

Errors requiring field service

are printer failures that require the
attention of service personnel. Before calling your service
representative, press CLEAR to attempt to remove the message
from the display. If the message disappears, the original mess age
may have been a false error indication. If the message reapp ears,
call for service.

Errors requiring reprinting

are those errors which require reprinting
to recover from an error condition. These are discussed in detai l in
the following topics.
IMPORTANT
The stacker is reset automatically whenever you clear a paper
fault (paper jam or fanfold paper empty) error.

Reprinting Pages After Fault Condition

The printer handles errors in three ways, depending on your
configuration of the Reprint on Fault option in the Paper Control
menu.
If Reprint on Fault is

enabled

(the default):
Any pages left in the printer at the time of failure will be r eprinted.
No data is lost.
