Mesh Topology

A mesh topology describes a fabric in which each chassis has at least one port directly connected to each other chassis in the fabric. Using 16-port SANbox 5000 Series switches the mesh fabric shown in Figure 3-7has the following characteristics:

Each link contributes up to 425 MB of bandwidth between switches, 850 MB in full duplex. Because of multiple parallel paths, there is less competition for this bandwidth than with a cascade or a Multistage topology.

Latency between any two ports is one chassis hop.

40 1/2/4-Gbps Fibre Channel ports are available for devices.
