Line error

LINE ERROR appears in
the display and/or a
transaction report is printed
out with COM. E-1, 2, 3, 4,
5, 6, or 7 in the NOTE
column.
Tr y the tra nsac tion again. If the err or per sist s,
check the following:
Chec k the hookup. The co rd from the TEL. LI N E
jack to the wall jack should be no longer than six
feet.
Make sure there are no mode m devices sharing
the same telephone line.
Chec k with the othe r party to make sure their fax
machine is functioning properly.
Have your telephon e line checked for line noise.
Tr y connect ing yo ur fax to a differ ent telephon e
line.
If the pr ob lem still occur s, you r fax mac hine m ay
need service.

No dial tone when you pick
up the handset or press the
SPEAKER key.
Make su re the hands et cord is connect ed t o the
correct jack. See

Chapter 1.
Dialing is not possible. Make su re the power cord is proper ly plugg ed
into a power outlet.
Make su re that the teleph one line is pr oper ly
connected to both the TEL. LINE jack and the
wall jack.
M ake su re tha t the fax is set t o the cor r ect
dialing mode for your telephone line. See Option
Setting 7 in Chapter 8.
