Printing on Envelopes from Tray 1 on page 71

Printing on Envelopes from Tray 2, 3, 4, or 5 on page 72

Envelopes can be printed from any tray as long as the tray supports the type of envelope you are using. For information on supported envelope types by tray, see Supported Media on page 53.

Envelope Printing Guidelines

Successful envelope printing is highly dependent on the quality and construction of the envelopes. Use only paper envelopes specified for use with your printer. For details, see Supported Paper Sizes and Weights on page 55.

Maintain constant temperatures and relative humidity where envelopes are stored and used.

Store unused envelopes in their packaging to avoid the effects of moisture and dryness, which can affect print quality and cause wrinkling. Excessive moisture can cause the envelopes to seal before or during printing.

Avoid padded envelopes; purchase envelopes that lie flat on a surface.

Remove air bubbles from the envelopes before loading them into the tray by setting a heavy book on top of the envelopes.

Do not use envelopes with windows or clasps.

Use envelopes with diagonal seams, not side seams.

CAUTION: Never use envelopes with windows or metal clasps; they can damage the printer. Damage caused by using unsupported envelopes is not covered under the Xerox warranty, service agreement, or Total Satisfaction Guarantee. The Total Satisfaction Guarantee is available in the United States and Canada. Coverage may vary outside these areas; please contact your local representative for details.
