SECURITY LOCK

This VCR is equipped with two types of security lock: a quick method security lock and a 4 digit security lock.

The security lock function is designed to prevent accidental stopping of recording if the STOP button is pressed inadvertently.

NOTE:

œThe security lock cannot be engaged while a menu is displayed.

Quick Method Security Lock

1While holding the SHIFT « button, press the REC/PLAY SPEED j button.

øö appears on the digital display.

To cancel the security lock, while holding the SHIFT

«button, press the REC/PLAY SPEED l button, “ ö ” will be erased from the digital display.

NOTES:

œWhile the security lock is engaged all commands, except the one to cancel the security lock, are disabled.

œThe quick method security lock will be cancelled by pressing the ALL RESET button.

4 Digit Security Lock

When the security lock is applied, the VCR cannot be operated by someone who does not know the correct password. You need to enter the password in order to operate the VCR.

Setting the 4 digit security lock

1Press the SECURITY LOCK button.

ø----appears on the digital display.

2Use the JOG dial and SHUTTLE ring to set the 4 digit pass word.

JOG dial . . . . . . . . . . To select a digit

SHUTTLE ring . . . . . To move between digits

øWhen the 4th digit is entered and the

SHUTTLE ring is then turned clockwise, the lock is engaged and ö appears on the digital display.

NOTE:

œWhen the digits are entered and the SHUTTLE ring is turned clockwise, the numerals are replaced by - characters.

Cancel the 4 digit security lock

1Press any button.

øö flashes in the digital display for 3 seconds, and then ----appears.

2Use the JOG dial and SHUTTLE ring to set the 4 digit pass word.

JOG dial . . . . . . . . . . To select a digit

SHUTTLE ring . . . . . To move between digits

øWhen the 4th digit is entered and the

SHUTTLE ring is then turned clockwise, the lock is disengaged and ö disappears from the digital display.

øIf the password is incorrect, the VCR returns to the initial condition.

NOTE:

œOperation 2 should be carried out within 7 seconds of starting setting 1.
