5Select Current Network Address in the Property list.

6Enter a valid 12-digit locally administered address in the Value field.

A valid 12-digit hexadecimal LAA value must fall within the range 400000000000h to 7FFFFFFFFFFFh and must be unique throughout the network. Check with your network administrator for the appropriate LAA address.

7Click OK.

8Restart the computer.

Defining the LAA Address for Windows NT

To set a locally administered address for a Windows NT environment, follow these steps:

1In the My Computer group, double-click the Control Panel icon.

2In the Control Panel group, double-click the Network icon.

3In the Network dialog box, click the Adapters tab.

4In the Adapters tab, select 3Com TokenLink Velocity XL PCI Adapter and click Properties.

The 3Com TokenLink Velocity XL PCI Adapter dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 4-10. Note that the current network address is displayed in the second field.

5Enter a valid 12-digit locally administered address in the Network Address field.
