• Hotword detection. When this is checked, you ca n say “Google ”
when viewing the Google N ow screen rathe r than touching th e
Microphone icon to initi ate a voice search or a ction.
To detect when you say “Google, ” your tablet may re cord a few
seconds of ambient bac kground noise in tempor ary memory
whenever the Google Now sc reen is open. This reco rding re-
mains on the device only fl eetingly and is n ot sent to Google.
• Download offline speech recognition. Check to select one or
more additional langua ges for speech recogni tion when you
don’t have a network conn ection.
• Personalized recognition. Check to associate your recorded
voice with your Google Acc ount. This improves speec h rec-
ognition by allowing Goo gle to customize voic e recognition to
your voice.

The Tablet search settings l et you select wh ich apps on your tab -
let are included in Google searches.

You can view Privacy and accou nts in two ways:
• From the main Google searc h screen: Touch Menu > Set-
