2.Check that the LNK LED on the TPIM lights green. If the LED lights red or is not lit, perform each of the following steps:

a.Check that the device at the other end of the segment has power.

b.Verify that the RJ45 is pinned properly.

c.Check that the twisted pair connection meets dB loss limits and cable specifications outlined in Chapter 2.

d.Check that the port is enabled through Local Management.

e.If a link still can not be established, contact Cabletron Systems Technical Support.

3.9.5 Connecting Fiber Optic Link Segments

Use TPIMs -F2/ -F3 to connect Fiber Optic Link segments. When connecting a fiber optic link segment to the TPIM-F2 or TPIM-F3 consider the following:

Fiber optic link segments with ST connectors attach to ST ports much like BNC connectors attach to BNC ports. The connector is inserted into the port with the alignment key on the connector inserted into the alignment slot on the port. The connector is then turned to lock it down.
