Troubleshooting

LCD Messages

The following messages are displayed in the LCD when the machine is performing a function or encounters an error.

This section describes messages related to fax functions. For other messages, → Reference Guide.

• The error code appears in the ACTIVITY REPORT. (→ p. 7-2)

Message (Error Code)	Cause	Action
AUTO REDIAL	The machine is waiting to redial the other	Wait for the machine to automatically

		send or receive the document using a G3
		machine.
	The touch tone/rotary pulse setting on your	Set your machine to the setting that

	The receiving fax machine did not answer	Contact the other party and have them
	within 55 seconds (after all automatic	check their fax machine. You can try to

		Guide) and reload the document in the
		ADF.
ECM RX	The machine is receiving a fax using Error	ECM receptions may take longer than
	Correction Mode (ECM).	normal receptions. Turn off ECM if you
		need to receive quickly, or if you know
		your local lines are in good condition.
