Solving Processor Problems

If you encounter processor problems, a common cause and solution

are listed in the following table.

Problem Cause Solution
Poor performance is
experienced.
Processor is hot. 1. Make sure the airflow to the
computer is not blocked.
2. Make sure the fans are
connected and working
properly (some fans only
operate when needed).
3. Make sure the processor
heatsink is installed properly.
Computer does not
recognize the second
processor just installed.
The Hardware
Abstraction Layer
(HAL) installed is a
single-processor HAL.
Install a multi-processor HAL. See
the instructions provided in the
processor upgrade option kit.
