13Orient the securing clips so that the rubber-coated tabs are toward the back of the chassis.

NOTE: If the securing clips are installed so that the rubber-coated tabs are toward the front of the system, the cooling shroud cannot be installed correctly.

14Lower the end opposite of the rubber-coated tab of each securing clip over the heat-sink post, and then slide the securing clip toward the heat-sink post. See Figure 6-14.

15While holding down the rubber-coated tab with one hand, push the latch on the securing clip toward the heat-sink post until it locks the clip onto the post.

16Repeat step 14 and step 15 for the other securing clip.

17Install the cooling shroud. See "Installing the Cooling Shroud."

18Close the system. See "Closing the System" in "Troubleshooting Your System."

As the system boots, it detects the presence of the new processor and automatically changes the system configuration information in the System Setup program.

19Press <F2> to enter the System Setup program, and check that the processor information matches the new system configuration.

See your User’s Guide for instructions about using the System Setup program.

20Run the system diagnostics to verify that the new processor operates correctly.

System Board

This section contains information on installing and removing the main system board. The system board and system board tray are removed and replaced as a single assembly.

Removing the System Board Assembly

CAUTION: See your System Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2Dismount the system from the rack.

3Remove the bezel.

a Push the bezel release latches inward. b Pull the bezel away from the system.

4Open the system.

a Loosen the two captive screws at the back of the system.
