Decline in Print Quality

Completely blank pages are output.

If the TONER LOW message appears on the display, replace the toner cartridge as described in Chapter 6.

Check to be sure that the toner cartridge is properly installed as described in Chapter 1.

The problem may be with your software program or interface cable. Run a test print or print out a status sheet. If blank pages continue to print, the problem may be with the printer. Turn off the printer and contact your dealer or a qualified service person.

A black page is printed.

Check to be sure that the toner cartridge is properly installed as described in Chapter 1.

The toner cartridge may need to be replaced. Replace the toner cartridge as described in Chapter 6.

The printed image is light or faint.

The transfer charger wire may be dirty. Clean the wire as described in Chapter 6.

Your paper may be moist or damp. Printing is sensitive to moisture absorbed by the paper. The higher the moisture content in the paper, the lighter the printed output. Do not store your paper in a humid or damp environment.

If the TONER LOW message appears, replace the toner cartridge as described in Chapter 6.

The print density knob may not be set correctly. Raise the printer cover and turn the print density knob clockwise. See Chapter 2 for information on adjusting the print density knob.

If the problem persists, replace the photoconductor unit as described in Chapter 6.
