Monitoring and Testing

Test Patterns

Use test pattern commands to send, monitor, and abort test patterns. Available test patterns are:

HQRSS – A quasi-random signal source approximating live data that can be monitored for logic errors (on the network and the data ports).

H1-in-8– A test pattern consisting of a one (1) followed by seven zeros (on the network only).

H511 – A pseudo-random bit sequence (PRBS) that is 511 bits long (on the data ports only). This is a PRBS 29–1 test.

Use a monitor command to monitor a QRSS test pattern over all the channels on the network interface, or to monitor QRSS or 511 test patterns on the channels allocated to an individual port. A monitor command provides the number of errors detected in the test pattern (5 digits, maximum 99999).

Only one test pattern can be active at a time on one port. Valid combinations are identified by YES in Table 5-11.
