VGS-1 OPTIONAL VOICE GUIDE & STORAGE UNIT

When using the optional VGS-1 voice guide & storage unit, you gain access to the voice recorder and voice announcement functions.

Voice Announcements

When changing modes, frequencies, settings, etc., an audio voice will announce the new information.

1Enter Menu mode and access Menu 003 (ANN) {page 20}.

2Set the announcement function to MANUAL, AUTO, or OFF.

• Refer to the tables below for announcements based on settings.

MANUAL:

A microphone PF key must be programmed as [VOICE] to use MANUAL voice announcment.

	While in VFO mode	Press [VOICE]:
	While in VFO mode	Operating band frequency
		Operating band frequency

	While in MR mode	Press [VOICE]:
	While in MR mode	“Channel” + Channel number + operating band
		frequency

	While in Call mode	Press [VOICE]:
	While in Call mode	“Call channel” + operating band frequency
		“Call channel” + operating band frequency

	While in Menu mode	Press [VOICE]:
	While in Menu mode	Menu number or setting value (some selections
		have no voice announcement)

	While setting up Tone/CTCSS/	Press [VOICE]:
	DCS	Current frequency/code
