Initializing the hard drive

Next, you must initialize the hard drive.

These directions tell how to initialize a drive with the printer connected to a Macintosh computer.

WARNING: Initializing the drive reformats it, and all data on the drive will be lost. Complete this procedure only as part of the installation process.

1.To set up the printer to communicate with an external hard drive, you must first enable the initiator.

-Press Select/Setup on the display panel to enter the Setup menu.

-Select:

“Ports”

“SCSI Initiator:Enable”

-Set to YES*.

-Use the Select/Setup key to exit the menu.

2.Open the Chooser. Using the Laserwriter 7.x driver, select the 8650 PS Printer to which the hard drive is connected.

3.If you did not install the utilities program when you loaded the drivers, insert the CD shipped with the printer into the CD-ROM drive.

The icon for the CD appears.

4.Double-click on the icon for the CD.

5.Double-click on the English folder.

6.Double-click on the Utilities folder.
