About printer initialization

When you turn the printer on, it takes up to a minute for the printer to initialize itself (start up and perform a self check). During this time, the power light on the display panel illuminates, and the messages below alternate on the display panel:

INITIALIZING*

INITIALIZING**

PLEASE WAIT

When the printer is ready, the following message appears on the display panel.

READY-POSTSCRIPT or

READY-RASTER

If the printer does not initialize itself

If the printer fails to initialize itself, the message INIT ERROR appears on the panel. Turn the printer Off and then back On.

If the INIT ERROR message appears again, turn off both the printer and the computer. Disconnect all cables from the printer except the power cable. Turn on the printer. If the INIT ERROR message appears again, call for service.

If the INIT ERROR message is cleared, then the problem could be in the cable connections. Making a test print
