Taking Pictures with Live View

You can take pictures while showing the subject on the LCD monitor.

This is called Live View.

This is useful as it allows you to check the composition on the LCD monitor.

Press [LIVE VIEW] to switch to the Live View recording screen.

You can do the following when taking pictures with Live View

Guide lines display (P55) You can take pictures with

well-designed composition by viewing the balance of the subject.

Histogram display (P55)

You can display the exposure of a picture as a graph.

LCD mode (P56)

You can set Power LCD to make the LCD monitor screen become brighter than normal and Auto power LCD to automatically activate Power LCD in bright places such as outdoors etc.

AF mode setting (P60)

You can match the focus to the recording situation and the composition you want to take. You can only select face detection etc. if [LIVE VIEW AF] (P107) is set to [ ].

MF assist (P63)

You can enlarge a section of the screen for adjusting the focus.

Aspect ratio (P94)

You can take pictures with a wide angle of view.

Extended optical zoom (P97) You can enlarge the picture with no picture quality deterioration.

Digital zoom (P98)

You can further enhance the zoom magnification.

Attach the eye piece cap when taking pictures with Live View. (P17)

The exposure and the color tone may differ when taking pictures with Live View and when taking pictures with the Viewfinder.

[AFC] in focus mode is not activated when taking pictures with Live View. (P39)

If you switch the focus mode lever to [AFC], the message [SWITCH TO AFS] appears and [AFS] in focus mode is set.

Tips for taking good pictures with Live View

A

Hold the camera gently with both hands, keep your arms still at your side and stand with your feet slightly apart.

Make sure the camera does not shake when you press the shutter button.

Do not cover the AF assist lamp with your fingers or other objects.

If the LCD monitor screen is difficult to see because of light from the sun etc. shining on it, we recommend using your hand or another object to block the light when using the camera.

When holding the camera vertically, hold it with the AF assist lamp A at the top of the camera.
