Fixing the focus or the focus/the exposure

1 Press [MENU/SET] to display the menu.

2Press 3/4/2/1 to select [AF/

AE LOCK] in the [CUSTOM

MENU] menu [ ] and then press 1.

3Press 3/4 to select [AF] or [AF/ AE] and then press [MENU/SET].

4 Press [MENU/SET] to close the menu.

You can also press the shutter button halfway to close the menu.

When [AF] is selected (Fixing the focus only)

1Aim the AF frame at the subject.

2 Press and hold [AFL/AEL] to fix the focus.

The focus indication lights when the subject is focused.

If you release [AFL/AEL],

[AF/AE LOCK] is canceled.

3While pressing [AFL/AEL], move the camera as you compose the picture and then press the shutter button fully.

When [AF/AE] is selected

1Aim the AF frame at the subject.

2 Press and hold [AFL/AEL] to fix the focus and the exposure.

The focus indication, aperture value and the shutter speed light when the subject is focused and the exposure is set.

If you release [AFL/AEL],

[AF/AE LOCK] is canceled.

3While pressing [AFL/AEL], move the camera as you compose the picture and then press the shutter button fully.

If you set [AF/AE LOCK HOLD] in the [CUSTOM MENU] menu to [ON], you can fix the focus and the exposure even if you release the [AFL/AEL] button after pressing it. (P104)

AF Lock only is effective when taking pictures in manual exposure mode.

AE Lock only is effective when taking pictures with manual focus.

In auto mode [], the setting is fixed to AE lock.
