Some recordings listed on the HDD menu cannot be played or copied to disc.

Some TV broadcasts or videos from external device that are recorded to this recorder may contain copy protection signals. Such material cannot be played back from the HDD or copied to a recordable DVD.

The copy-protected recordings are marked with the icon C in the HDD menu. They are either fully protected (copy never) or partially protected (copy once). For partially protected recording, playback is possible but once copied to a recordable DVD, the recording will be removed from the HDD.

What is Pixel Plus?

Philips’ Pixel Plus technology is an adaptive method of improving the picture quality of output signals from any source such as TV reception, satellite receiver inputs, DVD recordings and DVD playback at any quality level. The picture quality of processed video signals is analysed and dependent on the degree of disturbances,

Philips proprietary noise reduction, time-base correction and sharpness improvement is applied automatically on the output signal. This results in superior quality video output from the HDMI output on any HDMI TV and Philips’ Pixel Plus TVs.

What is HDMI?

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a high-speed digital interface that can transmit uncompressed high definition video and digital multichannel audio. It delivers perfect picture and sound quality, completely free from noise. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI.

As required by the HDMI standard, connecting to HDMI or DVI products without DHCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) will result in no Video or Audio output.

What is video upscalling?

With Video Upscalling you can increase the resolution of the DVD video signals from SD (Standard Definition) to HD (High Definition). The High Definition output can only fed through the YPbPr and HDMI connections.

This recorder allows you to increase the picture resolution up to 720p and 1080i. Before adjusting the setting, make sure that your television is able to support the video resolution or standard.

What is DVB?

Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) is a standard for digital television maintained by the DVB Project. This recorder has an integrated digital TV tuner (DVB-T) that enables reception of free digital video and radio broadcasts via a terrestrial antenna. If offers the best possible digital audio and video quality. More stations can be transmitted in the same frequency band and additional media services such as city guides, web-content are possible. The number of these free-to-air stations might vary from country to country.
