20Initial installation
Aftersuccessfully connecting your DVDrecorder tothe TVset and
otheradditional devices as described in the previous chapters, this
chapterwill showyou howto startthe initialinstallation. The DVD
recorderautomatically seeks andstores allavailable TV channels.
Switchingon additionaldevices
Ifyou haveconnected additionaldevices such as asatellite receiver tothe
aerialcable, switch themon. Theautomatic channel search willrecognise it
andsave it.Please observe that you mustswitch on a "test signal" for some
additionaldevices.
Noaerial connected
Evenif you only want to use the DVD recorder to play back or have only
connecteda satellitereceiver, you must stillcomplete the initialinstallation.
Thisis necessaryso that thebasic settings are storedcorrectly. Once initial
installationis complete you can use the DVD recorder as normal.
1Press STANDBY-ONmon the front of the DVD-recorder
P'PHILIPS'and then 'IS TV ON?'will appear on the display.
PIf the connection was properly made and your TV was
automaticallyswitched to the programme number for the
scartsocket, e.g. 'EXT', '0', 'AV', you willsee the following
picture:
