Direct Record

If the recording is manually started, the switched off DVD recorder
receivesthe currently selected TV channel through the scart cable. The
selectedTV channel is compared with the stored TV channel of the
DVDrecorder. If the TV channel can be found, the DVD recorder
selectsit and startsthe recording.
If no correspondingTV channel is found in the DVD recorder, an error
messageappears.

Howdoes DirectRecord work?
TheDVD recordercompares the TV channel selected on theTV set withits
storedTV channels via the scart cable. If the same TV channel is found, the
DVDrecorder switchesto the correspondingprogramme number and starts
recording.
Pleasedo not change channel on the TV set during search. This may affect
thetuning on theDVD recorder.
1Selectthe programme number on the TV set from which you want
tomake the recording.
2Press REC/OTRnwhile the DVD recorderis switchedoff .
a'WAIT'appears in thedisplay
bTheDVD recordercompares its stored TV channelswith those of theTV
set.Please do not change channel on the TV set while 'WAIT' appears in
thedisplay.
a'NOTV'appears on thedisplay
bThisTV channel was not found in the memory of the DVD recorder.
Checkwhether all TV channels stored in the TV set are available on the
DVDrecorder. Ifnecessary, store the missingTV channels. Read section
'ManualTV channelsearch' in thechapter 'Installingyour DVD recorder'.
bCheckthe connectors of the scart cable.
bConsultthe instructionmanual of your TVset tofind outwhich scart
socketsends out video signals.
bIfall this is tono avail,you cannot use this function.
3Tostop the recording press and hold the red function button on
theremote control until the red light around the nbutton is
switchedoff.

Switching 'Direct Record' on or off

1Press BROWSERHDD and then SYSTEM MENU button on
theremote control.
PThe'SYSTEM MENU' appears.
2Select'Preferences' with B.
3Press Ctoselect 'Recording'.
4Select'Direct rec.'(second menu page) using B.
5Select'On' using C.
OToswitch off the function, select 'Off'using C.

Automatic recording from a satellitereceiver (sat recording)
Youcan usethis functionif youhave asatellite receiver thatcan
controlother devices via a scart cable and has a programming function
(timer).For moreinformation, consult the instructionmanual of your
satellitereceiver.
1Switchon the TV set. If necessary, select the programme number
forthe DVD recorder.
2Pressthe BROWSER HDD andthen the SYSTEM
MENUbutton on theremote control.
PThe'SYSTEM MENU' appears.
3Select'Preferences' with B.
4Press Ctoselect 'Recording'.
5Select'Sat record' (second menu page) using B.
6Select'On' using C.
OToswitch off the function, select 'Off'using C.
7Toend, press SYSTEMMENU .
8Connectthe EXT2 AUX-I/Oscart socket of theDVD recorder
withthe corresponding scart socket of the satellite receiver using a
scartcable.
9Programthe satellite receiver with the desired data for recording
(programmenumber of theTV channel,start time andend time).
If necessary, also consult the instruction manual of your satellite
receiver.
0Switchoff the DVD recorder using STANDBY m.
PIn addition, 'SAT' will appear in the display to indicate that the
functionis activated.
AIf necessary switch the satellite receiver to standby. See the
instructionmanual for the satellite receiver for details.
TheDVD recorder is now ready for recording.
PThestart and the end of the recording will be controlled via
the EXT2AUX-I/O scart socket.
