YourPhilipsDVD recorder has a number of special functions to make it easier to use and to
enhanceyour enjoyment.
Youcan operate the main functions on your television using your DVD-Recorder recorder remote
control,even if yourtelevision is nota Philips.
Youcan upgradethe software ofyour DVD-Recorder with aCD-ROM.
Onthe web sitehttp://www.p4c.philips.com under the model number 'HDRW 720/00-02' you will
findthe data and the upgrade information.
Withthis function you can align the sequence of the TV channels from the DVD-Recorder with
thatfrom yor TV.
Withthis function the recording on the DVD-Recorder can be controlled via the scart socket.
Youcan use thisfunction if you have a satellite receiver that can control other devices via a scart
cableand has a programming function (timer). For more information, consult the instruction manual
ofyour satellitereceiver.
Atthe touch of a button your DVD recorder, even though it is switched off, will check which
channelis currentlyplaying on your televisionand record it.
Thisconnector is alsoknown as a'FireWire' or 'IEEE1394'. Thisconnector is used totransmit
widedigital broadband signals thatare used fordigital video camcorders. Audio andvideo signals
aretransmitted using acable. Inaddition to DVand Hi8camcorders, PCs withdigital video output
canalso beconnected to thedigital input.
Thisscreen tells you what's on the disc. Each index screen represents a recording. On the right
handside of the screen you can also see a disc indicator that shows the position and length of the
currentrecording on thedisc in agraphic format.
Thisfunction enables youto simplydelete unwanted scenes. The relevantscenes are marked and
skippedas required. If you store (archive) such titles on a DVD+RW/+R you can decide if you want
tostore the original title (with the hidden scenes) or the edited title (without the hidden scenes).
MP3CDs canbe playedon this machine.
MP3files arehighly compressed music files.The data is compressedto 1/10 ofthe volumeof the
originalaudio material using aspecial process. Thismeans that 10hours ofmusic can bestored on
asingle CD.
Usingyour DVD recorder you can record from an RGB source such as a satellite receiver using a
SCARTinput ( EXT2AUX-I/O socket). Video signals for thecolours R(Red), G(Green) and
B(Blue)are transmittedvia separate channels. Thisreduces the interferencethat occurs with
standardvideo cables.
