8. Appendix

The Relationship between the Resolution and the Data Size

The relationship between the resolution and the data size is mutually contradic- tory. When the resolution (dpi) is set to a high value, the scanning area becomes smaller. Inversely, when the scanning area is set larger, the resolution becomes lower.

When the network delivery scanner, e-mail, and document server are used, the relationship between the scanning resolution and the data size is shown below. If the data size is too large, the message “Exceeded max. data capacity. Check the scanning resolution.” appears on the control panel of the machine. Specify the scan size and resolution again.

Limitation

Depending on the image compression level, the maximum image size will be limited.

When “Text”, “Text/Photo”, or “Photo” is selected as the Scan Type

All combinations up to A3/11”x17” (297mm⋅432mm) and 600 dpi are possi- ble.

When “Gray Scale” is selected as the Scan Type

The data can be scanned with combinations marked with in the table.
