Assigning an IP Address

Overview

Each individual hub board (“hub-half”) in the system must have a unique

IP address. This 32-bit number defines each DNH’s network ID and host

ID. The IP address must be assigned by the user before the unit is net-

work operational.

See Setting Network Address page 57, for instructions on how to enter

the IP address.

Table 3-1. Available IP Addresses

The IP Address consists of a 32-bit number divided into four 8-bit fields. Each field is expressed as a decimal number from 1 to 255 with each field separated by periods. This is referred to as “dotted decimal” nota- tion. For example, 192.16.9.52 is an IP address.

Ask your network administrator to assign you an IP Address, or if the DNH will be in a closed plant area and not connected to the Internet you can select an address from Table 3-1.
