‘1. Pressthe ONLINE buttonto setthe printeroff-line.
2. Pressthe ONLINEbuttonagainand holdit down.
3. Whileholdingthe ONLINE button down,press the PITCHbutton. The
paperwillstart movingbackwardsinaseriesof smallsteps. Whenyou
wantto stop,release bothbuttons.
Clearingthe buffer
When DIP switch 1-2is ON, the printer stores receiveddata in alarge
memorybuffer.Thiscreatesaproblemwhenyouwanttoabandonaprinting
job andrestart:theprintermay beholdingmoredatain itsbufferthan ithas
actuallyprinted,andthisunprinteddatamust beclearedout beforerestart-
ing.Turningpower offis one wayto clear thebuffer, butthere isanother
way:
1. Haltthe printing programon the computer.If printingstops immedi-
ately,thebufferis clear andthe restof thisprocedureisunnecessary.If
printingdoesnot stop, continueasfollows:
2. PresstheONLINEbuttontosettheprinteroff-line.Printingwinnow stop,
butthere maybe data remaininginthe buffer.
3. Pressand holdthe FONTbutton.
4. WhileholdingtheFONTbuttondown,pressandholdtheONLINEbutton.
Continueholdingthesetwo buttonsdown.In about threesecondsyou
willhear abeeptone signalingthatthe bufferhas beencleared.
5. Releasethesebuttons,make anynecessarycontrolpanelsettings,then
setthe printerbackon-line.
Itis essentialtohalttheprintingprogramonthecomputerbeforeyougooff-
lke. Otherwise,whenyou go back on-linethecomputerwill startsending
dataagainandtheprinterwillcontinueprinting,withmissingdatawherethe
bufferwas cleared.
