Printing 3

Printing from a Unix or VMS workstation

You send Þles from your workstation to the Phaser 480X as you would to any PostScript printer (for example, the Apple LaserWriter II NTX). Workstation users can print from any application that generates PostScript Level 1 or 2.

For Unix and VMS environments, Tektronix offers PhaserPrintª, which provides fast raster screen copy printing to Tektronix color printers. PhaserPrint also provides a graphical user interface for push-button control of Tektronix printer features.

PhaserPrint software is available for these workstations:

Workstations

Operating systems

Sun:

SunOS 4.1.3, Solaris 2.3, 2.4

SGI:

IRIX 4.0.1, 5.2, 5.3

HP 9000 700/800:

HPUX 9.05

IBM RS/6000:

AIX 3.2

DECstation:

Ultrix 4.0, 4.4

DEC Alpha AXP:

OSF/1 1.3, 3.0

Note Tektronix offers a similar solution for DEC OpenVMS VAX and

DEC OpenVMS AXP.

PhaserPrint works with the workstationÕs native spooling system to print PostScript Þles and raster Þles in these formats: Sun Raster Format (SRF), xwd, and SGI RGB.

For VMS environments, Tektronix also offers PhaserSym, a VMS print symbiont. Refer to Appendix B for ordering information.

For information on printing from workstations and setting up spooling systems, you can look on the CD-ROM or contact HAL or EuroHAL, the Tektronix automated fax systems. Refer to ÒUsing the automated fax systemsÓ on page 6-4 for details on using the HAL and EuroHAL systems.
