4Caring for Your Printer

Important

When you clean the Phaser 480X, always remember the following:

Cooling time

After the last print has been made, wait 5 minutes for the thermal head to cool.

A clean, dust-free area

When removing the paper from the paper tray and the transfer roll tray from the printer, always set them aside on a clean, dust-free surface.

High-grade isopropyl alcohol

■It is best to use the purest isopropyl alcohol available to you (90-99% pure). It can be purchased at your local pharmacy (shipping regulations prohibit supplying alcohol with the printer).

■Pour isopropyl alcohol from its container into the plastic bottle supplied in the cleaning kit.

Caution Never use rubbing alcohol because it can contain oils that leave undesirable residue on the printer parts.

Drying time

Make sure to leave enough time for the printer to dry (generally 5 minutes) before making a print.

Careful handling

Avoid touching the rollers with your Þngers; oil from your hands can contaminate the rollers and cause printing problems.
