Answering system and voicemail
Your telephone has both a digital answering system and voicemail ind ication.
Most telephone companies offer voic email service (fees may apply). Your
telephone’s answering system and voicemail indication are i ndependent
features, and each alerts you to new messages dif ferently. For more
information on the voicemail indicator s, see page 10. To listen to your
voicemail, follow the instructions prov ided by your voicemail service provider.
To listen to messages recorded on your digital answering system, see pag e 30.
If you subscribe to a voicemail servi ce through your telephone service
provider, you can use your telephone answering system and voicemail
together. If you are on a call, or the answering system is busy and you
receive another call, the second call er can leave a voicemail message. Set
your answering system to answer calls at least two rings earlie r than your
voicemail is set to answer. For example, set your voicemail to answer calls
after six rings and set your answering system to answer after four ri ngs.
Message capacity
The answering system can record and store up to 99 mes sages. Each
message can be up to four minutes in length. The tot al storage capacity for
the announcement, messages and mem os is approximately 14 minutes.
The actual recording time depend s on individual message characteristics.
Messages remain available for replay until you delete them.
Some telephone companie s program the delay before answering call s in
seconds instead of rings; in t his case, allow six seconds per ring w hen
determining the appropriate s etting.
