Troubleshooting
Caller ID entries do not matc h the numbers I need to dial.
Caller ID service deliver s 10 digits (the area code plus the seven-di gits number). If
you need to dial something other 10 digi ts, see page 25 for instructions on ch anging
the number.
If you dial seven digits for local c alls you might want to use the Home area c ode
feature (page 10).
CONNECTING.. . shows in the handset screen.
The handset might be out of rang e. Move it closer to the telephone base.
Make sure the power cord is securel y plugged into the telephone base. Use a
working electrical ou tlet not controlled by a wall switch.
Reset your telephone by unplugg ing the power adapter from the telephone ba se.
Disconnect the batter y from the cordless handset. Wait fo r 15 seconds, then plug
in the power adapter and re-inst all the battery. Place the handset in the te lephone
base and allow up to one minute for the h andset and telephone base to synchro nize.
Other electronic prod ucts might prevent your handset and teleph one base from
communicating with each o ther. Install your telephone base as far away from
these electronic devic es as possible: wireless routers, rad ios, cellular telephones,
intercoms, room monitors , televisions, personal computer s, kitchen appliances and
other cordless telephon es.
The answering system does not answer a fter the number of rings that I programmed it.
Make sure the answering system is on. Whe n the answering system is on, the
ANS ON/OFF light on th e telephone base should be lit and AN S ON should show
on the handset.
If toll saver is selected, the numb er of rings changes to two when there are n ew
messages waiting (page 11).
If the memory is full or if the a nswering system is off, the answering system answer s
after 10 rings.
In some cases, the answering syst em is affected by the ringing system use d by the
local telephone company.
The outgoing announcement is n ot clear.
When recording the annou ncement, make sure you speak in a normal tone o f voice
towards the microphone of the h andset.
Make sure there is no background noi se when recording.
