Answering system operation
Turn the answering system on or off
The answering system must be turned on to answer and record m essages.
When the answering system is turned on, the ANS O N/OFF light on the
telephone base will be on and ANS ON will d isplay on the handset.
To turn on or off with the telephone bas e:
Press ANS ON/OFF to turn the answerin g system on or
off. When the answering system is turned on, it announc es,

“Calls will be answered.”

When the answering system is
turned off, it announces,

“Calls will not be answered.”

To turn on or off with a handset:
Press MENU/SELECT to show t he menu when the handset
is not in use.
Press MENU/SELECT to s elect >ANS. SYSTEM.
Press or to select >ANS SYS SETUP, then press MENU/SELE CT.
Press MENU/SELECT to s elect >ANSWER ON/OFF.
Press or to choose ON or OFF, then press MENU/SELEC T.

Call screening
You can listen at the telephone base to a caller leaving a message. If you
want to turn off the call screening feature, set the tele phone base volume to
zero. Remember to raise the volume in order to hear your message s during
playback.
Call intercept
If you want to tal k to the person who se message is bein g recorded, press
on the hands et.
Telephone base ringer volume
Press VOL+ or VOL- on the telephone base to adjust the ringe r volume
when the telephone is not in use. When you set the ring er volume to zero, the
base ringer is off and the system announc es, “

Base ringer is off.”
