Chapter 8 Home Networking
The following table describes the labels in this screen.
Table 36 Network Setting > Home Networking > IPv6 LAN Setup
LABEL DESCRIPTION
IPv6 LAN Setup
Link Local | Select Manual to manually enter a link local address. Select EUI64 to use the |
Address | format to generate a link local address from the Ethernet MAC address. |
Type |
IPv6 | If you selected Manual in the Link Local Address Type field, enter the LAN IPv6 |
Address | address you want to assign to your |
| example, fe80::1 (factory default). |
Prefix | Enter the address prefix to specify how many most significant bits in an IPv6 address |
| compose the network address. |
MLD | Multicast Listener Discovery (MLD) allows an IPv6 switch or router to discover the |
Snooping | presence of MLD hosts who wish to receive multicast packets and the IP addresses of |
| multicast groups the hosts want to join on its network. Select Enabled to activate MLD |
| Snooping on the |
| packets passing through it and learn the multicast group membership. It helps reduce |
| multicast traffic. |
Lan Global | Select Manual to manually enter a LAN Identifier as the interface ID to identify the LAN |
Identifier | interface. The LAN Identifier is appended to the IPv6 address prefix to create the |
Type | routable global IPv6 address. Select EUI64 to use the |
| interface ID from the Ethernet MAC address. |
Lan | If you selected Manual, enter the LAN Identifier in this field. The LAN identifier should |
Identifier | be unique and 64 bits in hexadecimal form. Every 16 bit block should be separated by a |
| colon as in XXXX:XXXX:XXXX:XXXX where X is a hexadecimal character. Blocks of |
| zeros can be represented with double colons as in XXXX:XXXX::XXXX. |

LAN IPv6 Address Setting | |
Delegate | Select this option to automatically obtain an IPv6 network prefix from the service |
prefix from | provider or an uplink router. |
WAN |
Static | Select this option to configure a fixed IPv6 address for the |
| IPv6 address. |
Static IPv6 | If you select static IPv6 address, enter the IPv6 address prefix that the |
Address | Series uses for the LAN IPv6 address. |
Prefix |
Prefix | If you select static IPv6 address, enter the IPv6 prefix length that the |
length | Series uses to generate the LAN IPv6 address. |
| An IPv6 prefix length specifies how many most significant bits (starting from the left) in |
| the address compose the network address. This field displays the bit number of the |
| IPv6 subnet mask. |
Preferred | Enter the preferred lifetime for the prefix. |
Lifetime |
Valid | Enter the valid lifetime for the prefix. |
