Sending a Confidential Fax

Fax machines are often placed in public places where everyone can look through the received faxes. If you are communicating with another Okidata fax-capable unit, you can use the confidential fax feature. The re- ceiving machine will store the message in a confiden- tial mailbox (in its memory) and will not print it until a password is entered. This is an exclusive Okidata fea- ture; you cannot use it with another manufacturer’s fax machines.

Note: To send a confidential fax, you must know in ad- vance the mailbox the message should be sent to. Ask the person who will receive the fax to tell you

their mailbox number.

1Load your documents.

2Press the Select Function key.

Receiving Confidential Faxes

If you need to receive a fax that should not be seen by anyone else, have the person send the message from another Okidata fax-capable unit as a confidential fax.

In order to do this, you must first set up a confidential mailbox, as explained below. Then, give your mailbox number to the person sending the message.

An incoming confidential fax is stored unprinted in memory until you enter the password.
