Glossary of Terms

Account Number

A unique number that will reference the unit number. This number

 

should be provided to customer service when making changes to

 

monitoring.

AC power

Alternating Current power from electrical outlet.

Arm

To turn on security protection.

Base Unit/Console

The central piece of the system which contains the programming

 

software, keypad, siren, strobe and other hardware.

Device

Any wireless apparatus such as a sensor or the Key Chain Remote.

Disarm

To turn off security protection.

Entry Delay

The amount of time to enter the secured area when the system has

 

been armed.

Event

Any occurrence that indicates a change in the system. This could

 

include a master user log in, triggered motion detector or program-

 

ming change.

Exit Delay

The amount of time to exit the secured area after system has been

 

armed.

Fault

An indication when there has been a change in a sensor due to a

 

number of things including, but not limited to, low battery, tamper,

 

and a sensor out of range.

Force Armed

Armed over a fault. A fault has not been cleared before arming the

 

system.

Fully Supervised

Devices automatically transmit check-insignal to the Base Unit

 

on a regular basis to test the system for low battery, tamper, and

 

inactive status.

Hibernation

When the Base Unit battery is below the preset limits and no AC

 

power is provided. As soon as the power supply cord is connected

 

to an active wall outlet, hibernation ends.

Key Chain Remote

Device used to arm and disarm the system.

Master Code

A four digit code used to arm, disarm and make programming

 

changes.

MIN Number

Mobile Identification Number; this number is the mobile phone

 

number of the equipment. This number should be provided to the

 

monitoring service when making changes to monitoring

PIR

Passive Infrared Motion Detector; highly sensitive to moving heat

 

(Infrared) sources.

Sensor

An accessory purchased separately that communicates with the

 

Base Unit to indicate that there has been a status change

Siren

A device providing a noise to notify user and intruder of an alarm

Standby State

A sleep mode for the Base Unit that will preserve battery life when

 

off for a long period of time.

Strobe

A device providing a light to notify user and intruder of an alarm.

System

The Base Unit, all devices and the monitoring service.

Tamper

An indication that the cover of a device has been removed or some-

 

one has altered the physical state of a device.

Unsecured

A device has been tripped. This could be an opened door, motion

 

detected, or an opened cable lock. This signifies the site is no

 

longer protected. This may indicate an intruder and will send an

 

alarm when in the armed state.

User Code

A four digit code used to arm and disarm the system only, user not

 

capable of making programming changes.
