Chapter 8. IP Routing

IP Route Table

Use these menu options to build a table of addresses for routing data packets based on their IP address. When a packet with the specified IP address is received, it is sent out through the se- lected port on the specified DLCI. See Figure 8-2.

The IP route table can be used in conjunction with RIP protocol to provide routing paths for the entire IP network. If an IP packet is received with a destination IP not located in the inter- nal routing table (static or RIP), then the gateway route is used.
