Power Recovery

If a power outage ends when your AVU1500 is still in battery-backup mode, your AVU1500 will automatically exit battery-backup mode and return

to normal operating mode. Also, it will automatically begin recharging the backup battery. The front panel’s battery-charge meter will animate to show its charging status. Once the animation stops and all five of the meter’s bars are solid, the battery will have reached its max charging capacity. Of course, as the battery’s charge level increases, the estimated battery-backup times will also increase.

If a power outage ends after your AVU1500 has completely shut down, your AVU1500 will not turn on, but it will begin recharging its backup battery.

Deep Battery Test

About once every three-to-four months you should run a “deep” battery test. Press and hold the front-panel “Test” button for 10 seconds to start a battery-only test, which is designed to deplete and recharge the battery to help refresh its chemical contents. This test will neither simulate a battery-backup condition nor perform any staged shutdown.

Note: As you press and hold the “Test” button, after the first three seconds the system may initiate a shutdown test; but if you keep pressing and holding the “Test” button, it will cancel that shutdown test and eventually start the desired “deep” battery test.
