Setting the resolution and density
Youcan control the resolution and density of the fax reproduction when sending or copying documents.

jWhat is resolution

Resolutiondefines the quality of the document reproduction. STANDARD is enough for most text
documents.Documents with very fine print should be set to FINE. Documents with photographs should
beset to PHOTO.

jSetting the resolution

Toset the resolution, you need to load the
documentfirst (see p. 49).
STANDARD
Press[RESOLUTION] until STANDARD
appears.
Standardresolution is 3.85 lines/mm.
Whencopying, even if you set STANDARD,
thedocument will automatically be scanned in
FINEmode.
FINE
Press[RESOLUTION] until FINE appears.
Fineresolution is 7.7 lines/mm.
PHOTO
Toscan documents that contain photos, use the PHOTO setting. With this setting, areas of the
documentthat contain photos are automatically scanned with 64 levels of grey, rather than just 2
levels,black and white. Photo resolution is 3.85 lines/mm. This results in a much better reproduction
ofthe photograph.

jDensity control

Youcan adjust the scanning density by changing the DENSITY CONTROL setting in the USER
SETTINGS(see p. 83). For light originals choose the DARKER setting. For dark originals choose the
LIGHTERsetting.
