Sending documents

Direct Sending

Toscan and transmit a document one page at a time without storing it in memory ﬁrst, follow the steps

below.This procedure is called ″Direct sending″.

UseDirect Sending if you want to visually conﬁrm that the fax scans the document. Each page is

scannedas it is sent.

1Feedthe document face-down into the

AutomaticDocument Feeder (ADF).

SeeLoading the document, p. 49. You can set the

resolutionand density. See p. 51.

2Dialthe other party’s fax number.

Useone of the dialling methods described earlier in

thischapter. See p. 56.

3Press[START/COPY].

Thefax begins sending the document.

Manual Sending

Ifyou would like to ﬁrst speak with the person you are sending the fax to, use Manual Sending. You

needto connect the optional handset or an extension phone to the fax for Manual Sending.

1Feedthe document face-down into the

2Pickup the handset or press [HOOK] and dial

theother party’s fax number.

Useone of the dialling methods described earlier in

thischapter. See p. 56.

3Ifa person answers, converse normally, then

askthem to press the start button on their fax.

Press[START/COPY] and hang up.

Ifyou hear a high pitch tone, press

[START/COPY]and hang up.
