Cleaning the Glass and Rollers

If scanned images contain spots or documents become dirty after scanning, the scanning glass or transport rollers inside the scanner may be dirty.

The locations of the main glass and rollers are as follows.

Pickup Rollers

Feed Rollers

Platen Roller

Scanning Glass

Platen Roller

Scanning Glass

Sensor Glass

Retard Rollers

Opening and Closing the Upper Unit

To clean the inside of the scanner, carefully follow this procedure to open and close the upper unit.

CAUTION

When opening and closing the upper unit, be careful not to get your fingers caught, as this may result in personal injury.

Opening the Upper Unit

Press the Open/Close button and carefully raise the upper unit until it stops.

Rollers other than those described above are cleaned by using the Cleaning Mode of the User Mode, using a cleaning sheet. (See “Cleaning Rollers with a Cleaning Sheet” on p. 5-4.)

Closing the Upper Unit

Carefully lower the upper unit (a). Press down on both sides of the upper unit to ensure that it is closed securely.(b)
