Printing graphics with the intensity
setting set too high.
Printing beyond the recommended
printing area.
Paper is curled.
Adjust the position ofthe Paper Thickness Lever accordingto thetype ofpaper
youare printingon.
See"Paper Handling" on page 13.
Depending on theprinting content, the printing surface maybecome scratched
even forthe types of paper to set the lever to the left.In this case, set the Paper
Thickness Lever tothe right.
* Reset the Paper Thickness Lever to the leftwhen youfinish printing. Ifthe
lever isnot set back to the left, the inside of the machine is more likely to get
dirty dueto the wider clearance between the print head and the loaded paper. It
may also reduce print quality.
Note
Ifthe corners oredges ofthe paper are smudged, try to print with the Paper
Thickness Lever setto the right.
Especially if you are using plainpaper to printimages withhigh intensity, the
paper mayabsorb too much ink andbecome wavy, causing paperabrasion.
When copying, referto "Making Copies" in the User's Guide on-screen manual
and reducethe Intensity setting. Then tryprinting again.
When printing from your computer, refer to "Print Results Not Satisfactory" in the
User's Guide on-screen manual.

For details on recommended printing area, refer to"Printing Area" in the User's
Guide on-screen manual.
For Plain Paper
Turn the paper over and reload itto print on the other side.
Leaving the paper loaded in the Rear Tray fora tong time maycause thepaper
tocurt. Ifthis happens, load the paper with the other side facing up. Itmay
resolve the problem.
We recommend putting unused paper back into the package andkeep themon
a level surface.
For Other Paper
Ifyou areusing paperwith eitherany of the corners or the whole printing
surface curled, thepaper may becomedirty, notfeed properly, orboth. Use such
paper after correcting paper curl asfollows.
(1)With the printing side (A) facing up,cover the paper with a fresh sheet of
plain paper toavoid stainingor scratching the surface.
(2)Rott up thepaper in adirection opposite to paper curl asseen below.
(1) } (2)
(3)Check to see that the paper curl is withinapproximately 0.08 to 0.2 inches /2
to 5 mm (B)in height.

1 \(B)
We recommend printing curl-corrected paper one sheetat a time.
Note
Depending on the media type, the paper may be smudged ormay not be fed
properly even if it is notcurled.
Insuch case, follow theprocedure described above in"For OtherPaper" tocurl
the paper before printing.
This may improve the print result.
