If the 5.0 will not be used for an extended period (such as a vacation), you may wish to turn it off completely by pressing the Master Power button 1 in until it clicks, then releasing it to the extended position. The green Standby LED 6 will extinguish.

Source Selection

After turning the 5.0 on, select the video or audio source you wish to listen to by pressing either the

Úor Û Watch buttons 3 or the Ú or Û Watch selectors 4 on the front panel, or by pressing the Watch button • or the Listen button Ä on the remote control. While either will allow you to select the source of your choice, the two sets of buttons behave somewhat differently.

Using the front panel Watch or Listen buttons 3 4 produces a display on both video monitor (Figures OSD-18 or OSD-2) and the front panel (Figure FPD-2) which indicate the Program number selected, and relevant Program details, including source name, Surround mode and current volume setting. Pressing these buttons allows you to cycle through either the Listen or Watch programs, which may be the factory-set default programs (described on page 43 of this manual) or programs you have modiﬁed to suit your preferences as described in the “Program Setup” section of this manual starting on page 37.

Please note that the display on your video monitor (if it is turned on) will blank out after a few seconds, but that the information remains in the front panel display indeﬁnitely, unless you press the Display button -, which will turn it off and on with each button press.

Its main use is to exit from the menus and return either to normal operation or to the previous menu when conﬁguring the 5.0 or adjusting system parame- ters. Within some menus, the Cancel button will have speciﬁc “exit” functions that are shown on screen at the appropriate time. Pressing this button when the unit is in normal operating modes and no other menu is present will reset all user parameters Remote Control OperationQDigital Input Program Buttons: Press any of these buttons to select any of the six digital input programs. Note that the numbers on the buttons DO NOT refer to the equipment connected to any of the individual analog input jacks on the rear of the 5.0. These numbers call up the complete input proﬁle that is established using the Programs Setup Menu to combine any of the digital sources with any video input.
