The system board’s BIOS chip contains the Service Tag, which is also visible on a barcode label on the bottom of the computer. The replacement kit for the system board includes a CD that provides a utility for transferring the Service Tag to the replacement system board.

NOTICE: Disconnect the computer and any attached devices from electrical outlets, and remove any installed batteries.

1Remove the keyboard (see page 114).

2Remove the display (see page 124).

3Remove the palm rest (see page 130).

4Remove the video card (see page 128).

5Remove the processor thermal-cooling assembly (see page 129).

6Remove the processor (see page 132).

7Turn the system over and remove the two M2.5 x 6-mm screws from the system-board bottom assembly.
